The tourism sector in the Girona region has gathered in Playa de Aro to defend the role of tourist accommodation (HUT) as a fundamental element for the region's economy and for family tourism

Finques Riart took part in this meeting, organised by the Apartment Tourism Association (ATA) and the Girona Tourism Board, where the Catalan Government was called upon to withdraw Decree Law 3/2023 and open a dialogue with the sector to establish more balanced and effective regulations in the fight against illegal accommodation.

During the conference, entitled ‘HUTs, the preferred accommodation of Catalan families, under debate’, it was emphasised that this type of accommodation is key to maintaining the competitiveness of the destination, generating employment and promoting seasonality, especially on the Costa Brava and in the rest of the Girona region.

The round table was attended by leading figures from the local and business world, such as the mayor of Castell d'Aro, Playa de Aro and Se Agaró, Mauricio Jiménez; the representative of the Empuriabrava Owners' Association, Tim Pelters; the director of PGA Cataluña resuerte, David Plana; and the president of the Lloret de Mar Bar and Restaurant Guild, Marc Linares.

The event, which was supported by the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board and the Provincial Council of Girona, served to highlight the need for closer collaboration between the authorities and the sector, and to reaffirm the role of tourist accommodation as an essential part of Girona's tourism model.
