Oncotrail is a 100 km team race organized by the Oncolliga Girona Foundation together with the Agrupació Excursionista Palafrugell and the Club Atlètic Palafrugell and aims to raise funds to improve the quality of life of cancer patients. The race takes place in the Baix Empordà and has a circular route of about 100 kilometers with arrival and departure in Palafrugell. Each team must cover this distance in a maximum of 30 hours.
This year, the 9th edition of the Oncotrail race was held last Saturday, October 1st and a total of 318 teams and 2,800 participants took part. Once again this year it was a resounding success with a total collection of 380,000 euros that will go to help cancer patients, contributing to the collection of funds to help the Fundació Oncolliga Girona in its work to improve the living conditions of cancer patients (for example: physiotherapist services, lymphatic drainage, psychological services, wig bank...) with the supervision of the technical committee of the entity. Also a percentage of the amount raised will be destined to the research of the disease within the Catalan Institute of Oncology of Girona.
As sponsors of the Forassenyats team, we are honored to participate and collaborate in this cause, as well as to thank all the people who make it possible every year.
